Nov. 10

Well, Roland and Erik have done it again. SkinView 4 is out, and it's got just about everything you've asked for. Too much new stuff to list here, get it now and see for yourself.

A BIG thanks to Zebayan for folding in the VWEP support, and getting the ball rolling on the upcoming Linux version.

Sept 29

Zoda Wrap sent a handy little patch which hides the HUD icons in Skinview. If the icons have been bothering you, grab it here.

I've been getting a lot of requests for the other skins from Steed's CW contest. There are no others from me. Every skin I finished was sent and they were all used in the pack. You can get the source files, which have some of the unfinished work in them here.

Talk is brewing of Skinview 4 for Quake2, and Unreal Skinview is still a possibility.

Stay Tuned!

The lead Artist from Nihilistic wrote about a position they have open for a 2d artist. Sounds pretty cool. Hurry up and check out the description in his .plan to see if you have what it takes.

The Quake2 PMP site has mirrored skinview for more exposure, and easier downloads. Thanks guys!

Response to SkinView has been much better than expected. Thanks to all the news sites who made it possible to reach so many, Telefragged for providing web space, and especially Erik and Roland Karlsson, who did such an amazing job on Skinview version 3.

Version 3.1 is out! You'll like this one it's much better than version 2. It's got everything now except vwep, and that will even be added after the 3.17 source release.

Get it!

Version 3.1 is almost ready. Klotjohan has finished the coding and it looks great! I need to make just a few small updates before releasing this version.

June 7

SkinView Mod 2 is now out. It's got a whole buttload of new stuff. A new map, better lighting, goofy sounds. You'll have to try it to believe it, this isn't like anything you've tried in quake 2 before.

Had to put up a Finger Script, inspired by Steed's Plan. I'll improve it when I get time.

Speaking of it, Paul Steed had this to say in his plan yesterday:

The skin contest for my chick is coming along nicely. ...The entries we've received thus far have been interesting to say the least. I really dig the wet t-shirt design with the daisy-duke shorts best, but nearly all of them are pretty damn cool.

I can't wait to see how this comes out. You still have a couple days to check out the contest page - (if for some stupid reason you haven't already.) All of the world's talented skinners are taking a shot at this, so the results should definitely be "pretty damn cool".

All settled in to the new site. Put up some cdrom.com download mirrors. I plan on uploading to the telefragged ftp site as soon as I get a few minutes to figure out how to work the script with my current download mirrors.

Got a MessageBoard up. Woop! Post on it. It's empty and probably will be for quite a while.

Made a link button for the site. Please link if you think it's worth it.

Got a new map made for the next release after Quake 3.15 comes out. This will have a dark room for checking for glowing pixels in software mode.

Telefragged already wrote offering to host SkinView. Those guys are on the ball.

Wow, wasn't expecting as much great feedback as I have been getting. It's very cool to hear about how many people are already having fun with the mod only a day after public release.

Thanks to planetquake and Blue for the mention. Couldn't have gotten the word out without them.

I have gotten quite a few requests for the crakhor skin from the mod, and the nurse skin pictured on the about page. I am planning on releasing those skins and a bunch of others I made soon, as well as uploading the full photoshop source images used to create them so people can play with modifying them. I did enter them into the offical CW skinpak contest, and don't want to release em before that comes out; in case one actually makes it in I don't want to release it separately under a different name. (That shouldn't be a problem since I'm one of those people who never wins anything... but I can still hope. : )

The file still isn't mirrored on cdrom.com yet. It's still in the uploads area. I'll link to it as soon as I see it's available so people can download it easier.
