I just got word from Roland that Richard Hess has released some ports of skinview to Linux, Iris, and BeOS.
I find this especially cool, since I have recently joined the ranks of happy Linux users myself.
You can find the page for the ports right here.

Looks like I managed to pull down the $4,000 prize from the skinning category of the
Unreal Contest. Course, I'm pretty happy about that.

There is a new skins site on telefragged.
It's still new, so be sure to get your skins submitted! Check it out at: http://skins.telefragged.com/

Head on over to http://unrealcontest.com/ for info about the Unreal skinning contest. If you are an unreal skinner, you really have to check out this official contest for Unreal, which includes a skin category.

No new updates will coming for a while. Skinview is perfect already. :)
Seriously, if you have any requests for new features, please post them to the messageboard. But it might be a while till the next version, since Skinview already does much more than it was ever intended to do. Big thanks to Roland and everyone who has made SV such a success!

Hi, just to make it clearer. The Action Quake port needs the SkinView version 4.3 to be installed.

This just in From Roland...
You can now use the VWEP support in SkinView for your own mod. It needs some porting - you will need to extract the weapon skins from your pak file and use maps with your weapons added. We have made a tutorial port for Action Quake. You can download the port here: aqsv.zip.
You will also need the
latest
version of SkinView. It is a simple port and includes help files explaining
how to do it.
The port will add files to the SkinView and baseq2/players/{male,female} directories. These files ensure that the normal operation of SkinView is not affected.
If you want to take a look at how a full fledged port will work, visit the Action Quake site Actors Guild.
This port is 2.5 Meg in size and installs into its own directory.
